J.S. BROWN & CO. CELEBRATES NEW NARI CERTIFICATIONS FOR THREE DESIGN TEAM MEMBERS
Columbus, Ohio – May 22, 2025 – J.S. Brown & Co., a leading residential design-build remodeling firm in Central Ohio, is proud to announce that three members of its team—Interior Designer Lorien Boyer, Sales & Design Coordinator Katie Poling, and President Monica Lewis—have earned the Certified Remodeling Designer (CRD) designation from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).
The CRD is NARI’s newest certification and represents the first industry credential created specifically for design professionals working in the remodeling field. As part of the inaugural class of Certified Remodeling Designers, Lorien, Katie, and Monica join a distinguished group of professionals who are setting a new benchmark for excellence in residential remodeling design.
The CRD designation recognizes advanced design professionals who demonstrate exceptional skill in developing functional, beautiful solutions while collaborating closely with clients and production teams. Earning the credential requires a minimum of two years of professional design experience, a commitment to ongoing education, and adherence to NARI’s rigorous Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. The exam covers a wide range of topics, including the designer’s leadership role in the remodeling process, client communication, space planning, product selection, and support through construction.
Monica Lewis, who also served on the national committee that developed the CRD certification, reflected on the significance of this milestone:
