Warranty Overview

Lifetime Limited Warranty
on J.S. Brown & Co. Labor

All labor performed directly by J.S. Brown & Co. is warranted to be free from workmanship defects for as long as the original homeowner owns the home. This warranty is non-transferable and begins upon signing of the Notice of Completion. Any alterations to our work by the homeowner or not contracted through J.S. Brown & Co. voids this warranty.

Five (5) Year Warranty
on Subcontracted Work

All work completed by subcontractors is warranted to be free from defects in workmanship for five (5) years from the project’s substantial completion.

Manufacturer’s Warranties
on Materials

All materials, products, and fixtures are covered under their respective manufacturer warranties. J.S. Brown & Co. will pass these warranties on to the homeowner and assist with documentation during project closeout.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover

This warranty provides extensive protection for your remodel, but it does not extend to the following conditions:

If your concern falls outside of warranty coverage, our Small Jobs Division is available to assist with routine home maintenance and small repairs. Please contact our office for more information about these services.

  • Normal wear and tear, aesthetic aging, or discoloration over time
  • Misuse, neglect, or lack of homeowner maintenance
  • Modifications, repairs, or alterations not performed or approved by J.S. Brown & Co.
  • Damage due to environmental conditions, weather, pests, or acts of God
  • Damage caused by homeowners, pets, guests, or third-party contractors
  • Damage to newly remodeled areas from issues that have migrated from parts of the home outside our work area
  • Material or product defects (covered by the manufacturer warranty)
  • Structural issues or settlement not related to our work
  • Shrinkage, expansion, or finish-related issues in wood products caused by failure to use or maintain appropriate humidity control, such as a whole-house humidifier or dehumidifier when recommended
  • Moisture issues, including mold or mildew due to lack of ventilation or humidity regulation
  • Reused or salvaged materials

Submitting a Claim

If you believe you have a workmanship issue covered under this warranty, you may:

  • Submit a warranty request through the Buildertrend app under the “Warranties” or “Messages” tabs.
  • Call or email our Client Care team directly at 614-291-6876.
  • Contact your original Salesperson, Project Manager, or our Production Coordinator.

Once submitted:

  • The Production Coordinator will confirm your request.
  • An inspection will be scheduled through Buildertrend.
  • If the concern is covered under warranty, corrective action will be taken at no charge.
  • Progress updates, photos, and communication will be documented within Buildertrend.

Please note: All warranty concerns must be reported within 30 days of discovery. Claims submitted after this window may not be eligible for coverage.

Additional Terms

  • This warranty applies only to the original homeowner listed on the J.S. Brown & Co. contract.
  • Coverage begins upon signing of the Notice of Completion.
  • The warranty is void if full and final payment has not been received.
  • Verbal representations by employees or subcontractors do not alter the terms of this warranty.
